The Village of Barneveld worked with MSA to create a practical yet effective design for their new library.

The Village of Barneveld serves their community with a full-service library that has outgrown the existing two-story 30-year old facility. The Village turned to MSA to consider the expansion and renovation opportunities to improve the aged facility. The existing facility was reviewed, collection needs studied and a series on planning meetings were facilitated. A practical yet effective design was developed by MSA. The selected approach will require a land swap with a nearby land owner to posture the facility for this expansion.

The 5,540 two-level addition will expand the building to 8,650 square feet. The expansion added an elevator with lower level program room that allows for after-hours use. The library functions are concentrated to upper 4,325 square foot street level. The library features a new dedicated children’s collection, new staff areas, new young adult area, and new adult reading area, new technology area and expanded collection areas. The configuration allows for library operation and observation by a single staff person. The project completed in 2015 under budget and on schedule.
