MSA’s Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging
As a 100% employee-owned company, MSA is inherently motivated to work together for the greater good. And we know that the greater good is at its best when comprised of a collection of diverse individual voices, opinions, perspectives, backgrounds and beliefs. Greater diversity in any organization, society or population brings greater strength, adaptability and innovation. Diversity itself is an outcome of having an inclusive and equitable environment.
That’s why MSA is committed to an honest pursuit of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) at the workplace — and beyond the workplace walls. This means making deliberate, quantifiable steps forward and assessing progress to assure our company is contributing to a world that is increasingly open, welcoming and just.
MSA DEIB Council
MSA is proud to have a dedicated DEIB Council comprised of employee advocates that serve to expand conversations, actions and learning initiatives around inclusive company culture. The DEIB Council’s purpose is to create and sustain a workplace of DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging) and an environment where employees are seen, valued, and have a true sense of belonging.
The DEIB Council meets regularly and brings forward experiences, educational trainings and outreach opportunities to all MSA team members. The group exists to elevate and accelerate DEIB advancements across the organization through the execution of its core functions: advising on matters related to DEIB and providing information to all employees to create awareness of the importance of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
MSA’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Goals
MSA’s commitment to DEIB begins by identifying goals, defining how we will gauge progress and acknowledging that goals will change and evolve over time. Current DEIB goals include:
- Ensuring that MSA has an inclusive culture that is equitable in providing opportunities.
- Promoting and facilitating safe discussions on the topics of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging where any employee can share their views and engage in meaningful dialogue with co-workers.
- Focusing outreach efforts on organizations that represent underserved populations, particularly underrepresented STEM students.
