The Iowa Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) named Dubuque, Iowa’s North Grandview Avenue/Delhi Street/Grace Street Roundabout winner of the Project of the Year Award in the $500,000 to $1 million category.
“This award wouldn’t be possible without the support of the City of Dubuque and contributions of our dedicated staff,” MSA Roundabout Practice Leader Mark Lenters said. “We’re happy to be a part of a project that makes the community a safer place.”
The highly congested intersection had poor operations and a history of crashes. After conducting a traffic study and an extensive public involvement campaign, MSA designed a five-legged roundabout with minimal right-of-way impacts.
Project Manager Ben Wilkinson led the project. His team included Mark Lenters, Caleb Van Horn, James Des Jarlais and Eric Frailing, along with support from Nathan Cook, Amanda DeAmico, Rielly O’Donnell. Wilkinson and the City of Dubuque staff were honored at the APWA Fall Conference Thursday, Oct. 5 in Dubuque, Iowa. The team completed the project as Ourston prior to joining MSA.
