MSA is pleased to announce the appointment of Lucas Jones, PE, as the firm’s newest Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) trustee.
A trustee plays an integral role in ESOP governance, serving as a legal shareholder for the ESOP Trust, with primary fiduciary duties as defined by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). MSA began its ESOP journey in 1991 and voted to transition to a 100% employee-owned firm in July of 2017. Today, the company is comprised of over 450 employee owners working from 17 office locations in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
“I’m honored to welcome Lucas as MSA’s new ESOP trustee,” commented John Langhans, PE, vice president, Land service line lead and fellow ESOP trustee. “Lucas has been a steadfast and enthusiastic contributor to our Employee Ownership Committee for years. His leadership in educating employee owners about the benefits of the ESOP model and generating excitement about its impact on our corporate culture makes him a natural fit for this role.”
Lucas joined MSA in 2006 and serves as a public works project manager in the organization’s St. Paul, Minnesota, location. He is an active member of the firm’s Employee Ownership Committee, representing MSA at regional and national ESOP associations, and has over 18 years of diversified local and state project experience. Lucas earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
