MSA is pleased to welcome Alan Goodman to the St. Paul, Minn., office, serving as senior project engineer for the firm’s Transportation program.
Goodman brings a great deal of experience to the role, having served over three decades as county engineer for Lake County. During this tenure, he provided administrative and engineering services for the county’s public works and solid waste programs, managed the county highway department, and worked to secure grant funding through Minnesota State Aid and Federal Aid systems.
Al has partnered with a broad network of county engineers, building associations and government officials. He has served as program administrator for Lake County’s annual bridge inspections, and prior to Lake County, worked as a bridge engineer in Itasca County.
“Having spent 30 plus years serving as the Lake County highway engineer, Al is well-known and respected throughout the state by DOT and county officials, as well as other state agencies,” said Kevin Ruhland, Transportation team leader. “He is a welcome addition to our St. Paul office as we continue to grow our transportation presence in Minnesota.”
Al earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota. He is a certified Professional Engineer (PE) in Minnesota as well as a certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader. He has volunteered time with the Northeast Minnesota Transportation Partnership, the Minnesota Transportation Alliance and a number of other county engineering committees.
With residences in both southern (Red Wing) and northern Minnesota (Grand Rapids), along with a “father-in-law” apartment in Duluth, he feels right at home across all parts of the state and looks forward to lending his expertise to the role at MSA.
