The City of Tiffin is currently one of the fastest growing communities in the state of Iowa. As Tiffin’s City Engineer, MSA provides a range of consulting/engineering services to support the community’s increasing need for expanded public infrastructure.
N. Park Road (Hwy. 6 to Aster Dr.) is a north-south road that is situated along one of the rapid-growth corridors in Tiffin. This corridor connects a new commercial and retail center on the north end to new residential developments and two elementary schools on the south end. The City requested MSA to provide multidisciplinary engineering services to prepare plans and specifications for the reconstruction of approximately 3,200 feet of this vital corridor. The project will be partially funded using the Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) program, with project development and bid letting through the Iowa DOT.

Plan sheets developed for the N. Park Road roundabout project.
Prior to improvement, N. Park Road was a two-lane rural section roadway with little to no shoulders. The upgraded corridor will include a four-lane divided urban section that includes left-turn lanes at key intersections and the construction of a new roundabout to assist in facilitating school traffic. A new sidewalk and 10-foot-wide multiuse path will be constructed along the entire length of the project, ultimately connecting to the Clear Creek Trail network. Due to the high volume of students that will use the pedestrian facilities, the project will include a grade-separated pedestrian underpass to accommodate safe passage from the west side of the road to the east side where Oak Hill and Tiffin Elementary schools are located.
