In its 2018 report of Largest Wisconsin Engineering Firms, the Milwaukee Business Journal ranked MSA Professional Services, Inc. (MSA) as the third largest engineering firm in Wisconsin. Rankings are determined by the number of licensed engineers in the state. This year’s ranking maintains MSA’s position as third largest in 2017, up from the eighth largest Wisconsin firm in 2016.

MSA CEO Gil Hantzsch, PE, cites MSA’s commitment to continuous improvement as the primary driver for sustained growth.

“We are seeing the results from work started several years ago to fundamentally improve our organizational health and to build more cohesive communities of practice for our many disciplines,” said Hantzsch. In addition to internal improvements, MSA’s focus is on the client experience by seeking feedback from clients throughout the life cycle of the project to better understand and exceed their expectations. “These and other improvements were put into place knowing that the results would be several years off, and our growth relative to our peers is evidence that it is working.”

MSA expects to continue with further improvements. “We became a 100% ESOP-owned S-Corp in 2017, providing us with the opportunity to build our culture of employee ownership to a new level.” Hantzsch stated. “An internal committee was formed to help educate our employee-owners on the benefits and responsibilities of ownership.” Additional 2018 initiatives include the implementation of a year-long internal project management certification course and a process to further enhance the quality and consistency of MSA deliverables.
